The Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) seeks a highly motivated Research Associate with the desire to utilize her/his abilities to create positive social impact by improving the performance of charitable foundations and through them, the nonprofit sector as a whole.
Qualifications/Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to structure and execute components of research – conducting rigorous quantitative and qualitative data analysis and communicating findings effectively both verbally and in writing. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate an exceptional commitment to accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
A master’s degree (M.S., M.A.) with 1-2 years of work experience required. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required as is knowledge of, and comfort with, statistics and statistical software (SPSS preferred).
Job description:
The Research Associate will work closely with CEP’s energetic staff in the development and presentation of research reports and case studies aimed at foundation staff and trustees. More specifically, she/he can expect to be involved in the following:
- analyzing large-scale quantitative and qualitative datasets related to performance assessment of foundations
- developing and executing new research projects to assess various facets of foundation functioning
- providing methodology and analysis support to CEP’s research and assessment tool efforts
- assisting in the preparation of research reports and presentations to both internal and external audiences
- representing CEP at national conferences
Compensation is competitive and includes generous benefits. This position will be located at CEP’s office in Cambridge, Massachusetts and will remain open until filled.
The successful candidate would begin work at CEP in early 2008.

independent research, conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative
data analysis, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Comfort with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required and familiarity
with statistics is desirable. College degree required (B.S., B.A.)
with 0 to 1 year of work experience.
Job description:

reports, and case studies aimed at foundation CEOs, executives,
and trustees. More specifically, she/he can expect to be involved
in the following:
- analyzing data related to performance assessment
at foundations
- creating and presenting assessment reports
and analyses to senior executives and boards of large, domestic
foundations
- developing and executing new research projects
to assess various facets of foundation functioning
- representing CEP at national conferences
