Grantee Perception Report (GPR)

Actionable. Comparative. Widely Used.

The Grantee Perception Report® (GPR) provides funders with comparative, actionable feedback based on responses to a customizable online grantee survey. Through a mix of quantitative and qualitative data, the GPR answers critical questions every funder’s board and staff face daily.

  • How much impact do grantees believe that you are having in the fields and communities in which you work? How can you have more?
  • How do grantees experience their relationships with you and what suggestions do they have for improvement?
  • What do grantees find most helpful and frustrating about your application and reporting processes?
  • Are you communicating foundation goals and strategies effectively?

The GPR is the most widely used grantee survey, and it’s based on extensive research and analysis. Nearly three hundred funders have commissioned the GPR, and 50,000 grantees have provided their honest perspectives. It is the only grantee survey that provides comparative data.

Customized to Fit Your Work and Budget

The GPR is modern, intuitive, and customizable. Using the latest online survey methodology, CEP can do more than ever to gather and analyze results by categories of grantees you find most meaningful. In your interactive online report you can choose the comparative data you display for each question and view different subsets of your results.

You can review past reports from more than 30 funders who have made their GPR results public as an act of transparency.

Insights gained through the GPR can be complemented by the Applicant Perception Report (APR), a separate, shorter survey that gathers and analyzes confidential, comparative feedback from a funder’s declined applicants. Many foundations use these tools together to identify what’s working – and what could be improved – in areas ranging from operational processes to communications to focus areas.

Some Questions the APR Can Help You Answer

  • Are your goals clearer to declined applicants after they go through your application process?
  • Are you providing feedback to nonprofits when they request it?
  • If you provide feedback, do applicants find it helpful?
