Assessing Foundation Performance
Foundation performance assessment is notoriously difficult.  How should foundations decide what – and how – to assess?  When is formal evaluation called for and when is it a waste of time and money?  How can foundations tap into multiple data sources to assess effectiveness and drive toward higher impact?  This session, led by CEP President Phil Buchanan, will examine these and other related questions, arming participants with practical, cost-effective ideas for assessing and improving foundation performance.

The Essential Elements of Foundation Effectiveness
There is much talk of foundation “effectiveness,” but what is it?  What are the key characteristics of effective foundations, and why does it matter?  In this session CEP President Phil Buchanan will draw on research and highlight exemplars, helping participants understand how their own practices compare.
