Addy Ashiru

Addy Ashiru, Senior Communications and Programming Coordinator, supports the organizing of CEP’s conferences and events, communicating of CEP’s mission and work to the public, marketing of CEP’s research and assessment tools, and administers CEP’s website and social media presence. Addy graduated with honors from Northeastern University with a BA in Political Science and a minor in International Affairs.

Mendi Blue

Mendi Blue, Manager of Strategic Initiatives, works closely with the President and is responsible for complex, cross-cutting project-based initiatives and representing the President and CEP to external constituencies. Mendi’s responsibilities include driving strategic planning and related assessment efforts, launching and leading new initiatives (such as the Foundation Performance Consortium), exploring opportunities to work collaboratively with other organizations toward shared goals and attending key sector meetings. Prior to joining CEP, Mendi was a management consultant providing strategic advisory and operations services to startup clients seeking to raise capital, improve business processes, expand market reach and launch new products.  Mendi’s professional experience also includes founding two consumer internet businesses and work as an internal strategy consultant at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and a legal associate.  She began her professional career as a compliance officer on the trading floor at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where she was a registered broker.  Mendi is an adjunct professor of Business Management and Finance at American Public University and Baker College.  She holds a BA in Economics (cum laude with honors) from Harvard College, an MBA from Harvard Business School and a JD from Harvard Law School.

Kevin Bolduc

Kevin Bolduc, Vice President — Assessment Tools, leads the delivery of CEP's performance assessment tools. He oversees both the design of new tools and the refinement of CEP's suite of current assessment offerings. Kevin helped design CEP's groundbreaking Grantee Perception Report and Staff Perception Report and has presented CEP’s data to boards, management and staff for dozens of funders. He led phase one of CEP's study of foundation strategy and co-authored the 2007 report, Beyond the Rhetoric: Foundation Strategy. He is also co-author of "Luck of the Draw," an article in Stanford Social Innovation Review that explores how grantee experiences are affected by differences in the quality of program officers' performance; CEP's 2004 report, Listening to Grantees: What Nonprofits Value in Their Foundation Funders; and a case study on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's approach to performance assessment. Kevin frequently speaks about foundation performance assessment and strategy at national and regional conferences. Before joining CEP in September 2001, he was a consultant with The Parthenon Group, a Boston-based strategy consulting firm. He is past chair of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy's Greater Boston Steering Committee, and was selected as a 2009 Independent Sector American Express NGen Fellow. Kevin was named among the Aspen Institute's Emerging Leaders 2012 class. Kevin graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Biology from Williams College.

Amber Bradley

Amber Bradley, Manager, leads relationships with funders using CEP's assessment tools. She oversees the creation and presentation of CEP's assessment reports and assists in the execution of specific research initiatives. Before joining CEP in July 2010, Amber worked as a research and evaluation consultant with clients such as MassHousing and Oxfam America. Prior to that, she served as Program Director at the MIT Community Innovators Lab, an urban sustainability center housed within MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning. At MIT, Amber led partnerships with community groups, directed research initiatives, and taught about local economic and community development. Amber’s professional experience also includes serving as a domestic violence counselor with nonprofits in Colorado and Oregon. Amber was a 2002 recipient of the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, with which she conducted research on women’s responses to domestic violence in Argentina, Hungary, Ireland, and Kenya. Amber holds a BA in Psychology from Reed College where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, as well as a Master of City Planning in International Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Andrea Brock

Andrea Brock, Research Manager, leads select research initiatives on foundation-grantee relationships and performance assessment. In that capacity, she manages project teams, contributes to research design and analyses, and co-authors research pieces. She is co-author of CEP's 2011 report Rhetoric versus Reality: A Strategic Disconnect at Community Foundations,the 2009 report Essentials of Foundation Strategy, and the 2008 report More than Money: Making a Difference with Assistance Beyond the Grant. Before joining CEP in 2008, Andrea worked as a consultant for a marketing research and consulting firm, Marketing and Planning Systems (MaPS). She graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Phil Buchanan

Phil Buchanan is president of CEP and was the first chief executive of the organization. At CEP, Phil has built a research team, secured funding, developed a research agenda, and managed the development and introduction of new performance assessment tools. Under his leadership, the organization has grown into the leading provider of comparative performance data to large foundations and other grantmaking institutions. CEP’s research reports have shaped practice and understanding among foundation CEOs and trustees, and its assessment tools have been used by 200 foundations located in the United States, Canada, the UK, and Israel. The organization has been credited with bringing the voice of grantees and other stakeholders into the foundation boardroom and with contributing to an increased emphasis on clear goals, coherent strategies, and relevant performance indicators as the necessary ingredients to maximize effectiveness and impact. He holds an MBA from Harvard University and received his undergraduate degree in Government from Wesleyan University. Phil is a columnist for The Chronicle of Philanthropy.

Ellie Buteau

Ellie Buteau, PhD, Vice President — Research, leads the design, execution, and writing of CEP’s research and oversees analysis of data related to foundation performance and effectiveness. She has authored a number of reports, articles, opinion pieces, and blog posts on issues related to foundation effectiveness. Ellie frequently speaks about CEP’s research at regional associations of grantmakers as well as at national and international conferences. Ellie was selected as a 2012 Independent Sector American Express NGen Fellow. Before joining CEP in 2004, Ellie led the design and analysis for education and health-related research projects at Cornell University, Tufts University, and a variety of nonprofit organizations. She taught courses on statistics at Tufts University and published research in a number of journals. She received a PhD in Social-Personality Psychology from City University of New York Graduate Center and a BA in Psychology, awarded with Great Distinction, from McGill University in Montreal. Ellie is an active volunteer in her local community and serves as a volunteer for Boston Cares.

Mark Chaffin

Mark Chaffin, Research Analyst, conducts analyses for CEP’s research projects and contributes to the design of research initiatives. Before joining CEP in July 2012, Mark was a Presidential Scholar at Colby College, graduating with a BA in Biology and Mathematical Sciences. As an undergraduate, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Mathematics and Statistics department and was a dedicated member of the Colby College Ultimate Frisbee team.

Thana-Ashley Charles

Thana-Ashley Charles, Research Analyst conducts analyses for CEP’s research projects and contributes to the design of research initiatives. Prior to joining CEP, Thana-Ashley interned at The New York Foundling‘s Youth Development department focusing on the improvement of independent skills of foster care youth. Thana-Ashley graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in the Science in Societies Program.  As an undergraduate Thana-Ashley participated in the Young People For Fellowship, working on resource planning and organizing of community social movements.

Alyse d’Amico

Alyse d'Amico, Special Assistant to the President and Director of Development, works closely with the President on a variety of strategic initiatives and develops and implements CEP’s fundraising strategy. Alyse has helped the organization secure more than $13 million in grant commitments during her tenure. From February 2008 to May 2011, Alyse served as Vice President — Programming, Communications, and Development, leading CEP’s programming aimed at foundation executives and trustees; all CEP communications and marketing materials, including the Web site and CEP’s newsletter; and all development-related communications. Prior to that, she served in several roles at CEP, including Manager of Programming and Communications and Office Manager. Before joining CEP in June 2003, Alyse worked in management at Morgan Stanley. She graduated magna cum laude from Skidmore College with a BA in Literature and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society.

Sara Dubois 

Sara Dubois, Senior Graphic Designer, creates and manages materials reflecting CEP. Sara designs HTML emails, research and tool reports, direct mail pieces, annual reports, conference collateral and website materials. Sara graduated from James Madison University with a BS in Corporate Communications and went back to Boston University to study advanced graphic and web design.  Sara also volunteers as the Pro Bono Creative Director for the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation.

Rachel Fagen

Rachel Fagen, Systems Manager, manages CEP’s infrastructural and technical systems; including IT, knowledge and relationship management system administration, report development, and quality assurance. Rachel has managed the expansion of CEP’s east coast office in Cambridge and coordinated the opening of CEP’s west coast office in San Francisco. She is a StartingBloc Fellow (Boston 2011) and member of the StartingBloc Fellows' Advisory Board. Before joining CEP, Rachel worked extensively in small business and nonprofit administration.

Caredwen Foley

Caredwen Foley, Senior Research Analyst, works on CEP’s YouthTruth initiative, which gathers comparative and actionable feedback from students attending high schools around the country. In this role, she manages production of school-level reports, analyzes data, and presents findings to schools and districts participating in YouthTruth. She also oversees continuous improvements to YouthTruth survey questions and develops custom survey question modules for participating schools and districts. Before joining CEP in October 2009, she held internships at the Media Education Foundation and at the Northampton Survival Center, an emergency food pantry in Northampton, MA. Caredwen is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated from Smith College with a BA in Government, where she focused on American politics and public opinion.

Emily Giudice

Emily Giudice, Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces assessment tools, and presents findings to CEP clients. Prior to joining CEP, Emily graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with majors in Economics and Religious Studies. Emily wrote her honors thesis for Economics on how gender ratios affect savings rates by introducing competition on the marriage market in India. As an undergraduate, Emily was an active member of the Northwestern University Sailing Team and served as Assistant Financial Vice President and Philanthropy Chair for her sorority. Emily interned for CEP in the summer of 2011.

Jenny Goff

Jenny Goff, Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces reports, and presents assessment tool findings to CEP clients. Prior to joining CEP in February 2013, Jenny worked as a research consultant in Nicaragua for Root Capital, a nonprofit social investment fund.  She graduated from Yale University with a BA in Anthropology.  As an undergraduate, Jenny worked as a freshman counselor for the Yale College Dean’s Office and as an intern at a New Haven public school.

Ramya Gopal

Ramya Gopal, Research Analyst, conducts analyses for CEP’s research projects and contributes to the design of research initiatives. Before joining CEP, Ramya worked as an analyst for Kantar Retail, a marketing consulting firm, and interned for USA Today and Money Magazine. She graduated from Swarthmore College with a B.A. in Economics and English Literature. As an undergraduate, she received Harvey Milk/Grace Lee Boggs Lifetime Award for her leadership in the intercultural community.

Paul Heggarty

Paul Heggarty, Vice President — Finance, is responsible for all finance and business operations at CEP. Paul brings to his role extensive strategic business planning and financial analysis experience at rapidly growing organizations. Before joining CEP in October 2007, he served as the director of business planning and analysis at Watchfire, a security software company acquired by IBM. He has also worked as a director of finance at professional services organizations Viant Corporation and Cambridge Technology Partners. Paul is a Department of Children and Families community representative for foster care reviews. He holds an MBA from Boston University and an undergraduate degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

An-Li Herring

An-Li Herring, Research Analyst, works on CEP’s YouthTruth initiative, which gathers comparative and actionable feedback from students attending high schools around the country. In this role, she administers surveys, analyzes data and makes survey improvements. Before joining CEP in July 2011, An-Li graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan, where she earned a BA in Public Policy and a minor in Economics. As an undergraduate, An-Li served as a dialogue facilitator for the Program on Intergroup Relations. She has also run five marathons.

Joanna Hoffman

Joanna Hoffman, Senior Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces assessment tools, and presents findings to CEP clients. Before joining CEP, Joanna worked as an associate at Ceteris Group, an economic consulting firm specializing in transfer pricing and valuation. Joanna graduated from Williams College with a BA in Mathematics and Economics. As an undergraduate, Joanna worked as a research assistant in the Economics department and was on the swim team.

Howard Hsu

Howard Hsu, Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces assessment tools, and presents findings to CEP clients. Prior joining CEP, Howard was a senior analyst at Compass Lexecon, an economic consulting firm in Boston. During his time there, Howard analyzed the competitive implications of mergers in the airline and electricity industries.  Howard graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University in 2008 with a double major in Psychology and Economics.

Brian Hughes

Brian Hughes, Director of Talent and Administration, is responsible for all aspects of talent acquisition and cultivation, implementation of the infrastructure, systems, and processes needed to support CEP's work, including facilities management, and administrative support activities. He oversees the hiring and onboarding processes, and manages CEP’s professional evaluation, development and training programs.  Brian is also responsible for cultivating and promoting CEP’s positive organizational culture in line with CEP's values and mission. Brian brings to his role extensive strategic talent acquisition and Human Resources experience with mission driven public service organizations. Before joining CEP, he served as the Senior Recruiter at The Cadmus Group, a national environmental science, strategic communications and energy efficiency consulting firm. Brian has also previously worked as a Corporate Recruiter with Children’s Hospital Boston. In this role, he helped develop and coordinate the COACH high school internship program for Boston Public School students. He is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), holds a Master’s of Science in Human Resources from Suffolk University, and an undergraduate degree in Human Resources Studies and Business Administration from The University of Scranton.

Nathan Hutto

Nathan Hutto, Manager – YouthTruth Initiative, oversees quality in survey administration, data generation, analysis and report creation processes, and leads analytic and operational improvements required to grow YouthTruth, an initiative to gather comparative and actionable feedback from students about what is working and not working in middle and high schools nationwide. Prior to joining CEP, Nathan was the Director of Research and Evaluation at Horizons for Homeless Children, where he designed and implemented the organization’s first comprehensive program evaluation. Nathan has previously worked in a variety of settings in the social and education sectors, including Columbia University, Teach for America, the U.S. Peace Corps, and a Kosovo-based non-profit. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Policy from Columbia University, along with an M.S. in Social Work from Columbia University, and a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Whitney Ivie

Whitney Ivie, Youth Truth Senior Coordinator, manages relationships with participating YouthTruth school administrators and is the liaison for schools and districts during survey implementation. She facilitates the sharing of survey results and communicates YouthTruth’s mission and work by administering the YouthTruth website and social media presence, and creating public materials. She graduated with honors from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT with a BA in Professional Communication.

Elizabeth Kelley

Elizabeth Kelley, Senior Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces assessment tools, and presents findings to CEP clients. Before joining CEP, Elizabeth worked as a program assistant at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and interned at Alternatives for Community and Environment, where she continues to volunteer. Elizabeth graduated from Middlebury College with high honors in Environmental Studies and received the Andrew E. Nuquist Award for her senior thesis on the "greening" of social capital.

Amanda King

Amanda King, Senior Accounting and Operations Coordinator, provides accounting and general support for CEP’s business operations. Before joining CEP in December 2008, Amanda graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a BS in Business Administration concentrating in Finance. She held a similar position as an undergraduate at The Revolving Museum. She also interned with Putnam Investments.

Latia King

Latia King, Executive Assistant to Phil Buchanan, supports the president and handles a variety of other related tasks, including providing staff support to the board of directors. She assists with special projects, such as contributing to the efforts of CEP’s YouthTruth team, and with conferences. Before joining CEP in April 2006, Latia held a variety of positions at the Center for Teen Empowerment, most recently as a program coordinator for their Madison Park High School site. Latia is the Assistant Leader of, and a signer/interpreter for, the Deaf Ministry at Jubilee Christian Church, where she uses her American Sign Language (ASL) skills in a number of capacities. Latia graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Spanish and an American Studies minor from UMass, Boston.

Tamorra King

Tamorra King, Office Manager, is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of CEP’s offices. This responsibility includes managing inventory and purchasing of office and other supplies, maintaining the necessary working order of equipment, serving as the primary point of contact for vendors and facilities management, and providing general administrative support for the organization. Tamorra joined CEP in July 2012 as the Administrative Supportive Professional and was promoted to Office Manager in April 2013. Prior to joining CEP, Tamorra held a similar position at both an engineering firm and real estate office.

Karina Kocemba

Karina Kocemba, Senior Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces assessment tools, and presents findings to CEP clients. She joined CEP in July 2011 after graduating magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis with majors in Economics and Psychology. Karina received Honors with Distinction in Economics for her honors thesis on the pursuit of higher education in transitional Bulgaria. As an undergraduate, Karina played varsity tennis, tutored at-risk youth, and worked at behavioral research labs in the Psychology and Economics departments at Washington University.

Austin Long

Austin Long, Manager, leads relationships with funders using CEP's assessment tools, with a particular focus on the west coast funder community. He oversees the creation and presentation of CEP's assessment reports, and assists in the development of new assessment tools. Before joining CEP in August 2011, Austin was an Associate Director with the Corporate Executive Board where he focused on providing assessment tools, research, and networking to a global membership of clients. Austin’s professional experience also includes serving as an Advisory Board Member for Spark, an education nonprofit based in the Bay Area, and leading pro bono engagements for nonprofits in Washington, DC. Austin holds a BS in Engineering Science with concentrations in Corporate Strategy and Management of Technology from Vanderbilt University.

Chandrala Malkood

Chandrala Malkood, Senior Database Developer, works on automating processes at CEP. She leverages technology to make analyses easier for the organization. Chandrala also works on ongoing improvements to CEP’s data management system and analytical reporting functions. Prior to joining CEP, Chandrala worked in the finance industry, automating business processes through software design. Chandrala graduated from University of Alabama with Masters in Computer Science and is continuously accruing Microsoft certifications.

Mark McLean

Mark McLean, Senior Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces reports, and presents assessment tool findings to CEP clients. Prior to joining CEP in January 2011, Mark volunteered as a National Outreach Director at Students Offering Support, a student-led social venture that supports community development in Latin America, and on the Marketing team at Sustainable Waterloo Region, a collaborative environmental nonprofit organization. He graduated with distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University with a BBA, majoring in Marketing with a minor in Economics. As an undergraduate, Mark worked as a Research Assistant in Wilfrid Laurier University’s Organizational Behaviour/Human Resources Management department and CMA Centre for Business & Sustainability.

Laurel Mitchell

Laurel Mitchell, Administrative and Program Coordinator, supports the Vice President of Assessment Tools, coordinates the tools production process and manages marketing research and tracking. Prior to joining CEP, Laurel worked as a Physics and Mathematics teacher at the Darrow School in New York and the Benjamin Franklin Institute for Technology in Massachusetts. She graduated from Connecticut College in 2009 with a BA in Physics and is published in Physical Review A for her work in the Daghlian Ion Accelerator Laboratory.

Mike Nguyen

Mike Nguyen, Associate Manager – Data Systems, leads the full-stack development of CEP’s architecture for data warehousing, data analysis, and online reporting. Mike helps the organization increase efficiency in operations through tech innovations and broaden the knowledge base through technical training for staff. He also oversees the ongoing technical development of CEP’s online reporting system for clients. Prior to the current role, as a Research Analyst with CEP’s YouthTruth Initiative, Mike implemented survey design, oversaw SQL database structure, analyzed data, and presented findings and results to participating schools and districts. He programs in two languages – Python and Ruby. He speaks two languages – Vietnamese and Polish.

Grace Nicolette

Grace Nicolette, Manager, leads relationships with funders using CEP's assessment tools. She oversees the creation and presentation of CEP's assessment reports and assists in the execution of specific research initiatives. Prior to joining CEP, Grace co-founded Social Venture Group, a philanthropy advisory firm in Shanghai that identifies investments in high potential nonprofits and social enterprises in China. In 2011, the World Economic Forum named her one of its Young Global Leaders. Grace also sits on the advisory boards for several foundations and nonprofits as a China specialist. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Alexsandra Ocasio

Alexsandra Ocasio, Manager of Finance, manages CEP's accounting systems and financial reporting. Before joining CEP in June 2005, Alexsandra served in a variety of capacities with both nonprofit and for-profit organizations, and most recently held a similar position at the Center for Teen Empowerment, Inc. She has a BFA in writing, literature, and publishing from Emerson College.

Mark Russell

Mark Russell, Director of Communications and Programming, oversees CEP’s website and its popular blog, its promotional materials, its social media presence, and its biennial conference for foundation CEOs and trustees. Additionally, he is responsible for securing national, regional and niche press coverage, as well as for supporting the President in his role as the organization’s leading spokesperson. Prior to joining CEP Mark served as Chief Communications Officer and a member of the Executive Management Team at Physicians for Human Rights, a Nobel Peace Prize winning human rights organization. As the Deputy Director for Hunt Alternatives Fund, he led the Fund’s communications efforts and helped launch new programs, including a national program to fight human trafficking. His twenty-year career in communications includes work with The Trustees of Reservations, Hasbro Interactive, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and the Massachusetts School of Law. Mark earned a Master’s in History from the University of New Hampshire and an undergraduate degree in Government from Dartmouth College.

Paul Sohn

Paul Sohn, Senior Research Analyst, analyzes data, produces reports, and presents assessment tool findings to CEP clients. Prior to joining CEP in July 2010, Paul interned for the Center for Neighborhood Technology in Chicago, an urban sustainability "think-and-do tank." He graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Sociology and Urban Studies and a minor in Business Institutions. As an undergraduate, Paul volunteered for LIFT, helping connect local residents to employment resources and public benefits.

Stephen Sullivan

Stephen Sullivan, Senior Coordinator of Communications and Programming, supports the organizing of CEP’s conferences and events, communicating CEP’s mission and work to the public, marketing CEP’s research and assessment tools, and administering CEP’s website and social media presence. Prior to joining CEP in August of 2011, he served as the Communications Coordinator at The Boston Foundation. Marny Sumrall 

Marny Sumrall, Executive Director – YouthTruth Initiative, leads CEP’s national survey project to gather comparative and actionable feedback from students about what is working and not working in their schools. YouthTruth translates the student voice into data and insight to help school leaders and their partners increase their effectiveness and impact. Marny markets YouthTruth and represents the project publicly, oversees district and state recruitment efforts nationally, leads efforts to innovate the way YouthTruth operates, and guides the overall implementation of the project. Prior to joining CEP in September 2012, Marny developed deep expertise and knowledge of K-12 education during her career at SCORE! Educational Centers and Kaplan Test Preparation (K-12 and College Prep). There, she held various field and national roles including West Regional Vice President and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. Marny also led the business development efforts for Grockit, a leading adaptive and social learning platform. Marny graduated with honors from Stanford University, with a BA in American Studies and a certificate in Policy for Children, Youth, and Families.

Valerie Threlfall

As Senior Advisor, YouthTruth Initiative, Valerie Threlfall advises the leadership of Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) in developing tools to gather comparative feedback from beneficiaries of foundation programs. In this role, she provides guidance to the YouthTruth project, an initiative to gather comparative and actionable feedback from students about what is working and not working in schools nationwide. From March 2008 through September 2012, Valerie served as the founding director of YouthTruth during which time she was responsible for setting the strategic direction of the program and running daily operations. Prior to joining CEP, Valerie worked as a nonprofit strategy consultant, serving organizations such as Global Giving, Partners in Health, and Monitor Institute. Prior to that, she was the Director of Commercial and Strategic Planning at a start-up biotechnology firm, Momenta Pharmaceuticals. Valerie’s nonprofit experience includes working at Opportunity Finance Network, a national association of community development financial institutions, where she published multiple papers on theory of change planning and how to create effective impact measurement systems. She holds a joint MBA and MPP from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, respectively. Valerie received her undergraduate degree in Economics and Public Policy from Swarthmore College.

Jen Vorse Wilka

Jen Vorse Wilka, Manager – YouthTruth Initiative, leads key aspects of CEP’s YouthTruth project, an initiative to gather comparative and actionable feedback from students about what is working and not working in high schools nationwide. In this role, she manages relationships with districts and networks, oversees data collection and analysis, and helps present findings and insights to schools, districts, networks, and funders. Prior to joining CEP, Jen worked as a consultant to a school network serving 1.4 million students across Latin America, including 25,000 in Ecuador, where she was based. Previously, she worked at The Boston Foundation on grant making and public policy initiatives in education, youth development, and criminal justice, and also served as a Rappaport Fellow in the Boston Mayor's Office. Jen holds an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School, where she completed a master's thesis analyzing the unintended consequences of zero tolerance school discipline policies, and a BA from Williams College.
