Multidimensional Assessment Report
The Multidimensional Assessment Process (MAP) provides funders with an integrated assessment of their performance based on comparative data collected from a variety of constituents, including
- grantees
- declined applicants
- staff
- board members
The MAP assimilates results and data from a selected combination of CEP assessment tools and provides an overview of strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement. CEP provides an integrated summary of results and, in consultation with foundation leadership, identifies next steps in the foundation’s plan for improvement.
The MAP draws on a variety of comparative data sources, including:
- Operational Benchmarking Report (OBR) — provides comparative data on dimensions such as allocation of staff resources, administrative spending, and staff workloads
- Grantee Perception Report® (GPR) — presents comprehensive and comparative data on grantee perceptions of the foundation — from quality of interactions and non-monetary assistance to information about the selection and evaluation processes
- Applicant Perception Report (APR) — distills the perceptions of declined applicants
- Comparative Board Report (CBR) — analyzes board practices and structures relative to other foundations and summarizes the perceptions of board members on a range of questions related to board effectiveness
- Staff Perception Report (SPR) — summarizes the perspective of foundation staff on a range of questions related to job satisfaction and foundation effectiveness
- Stakeholder Assessment Report (STAR) — provides insight about foundation performance based on the perceptions of stakeholders (such as the media, peer foundations and elected officials) a foundation may seek to influence as part of its strategy
The MAP Process
The MAP process takes about six months, starting when the surveys are sent to the various audiences being surveyed, and concluding when CEP synthesizes the reports and presents findings.
The deadline for expressing interest in the next round of assessment tool surveys is December 11, 2009.
