CENTER FOR EFFECTIVE PHILANTHROPY ANNOUNCES INITIAL MEMBERSHIP OF ADVISORY BOARD

Boston, MA: The Center for Effective Philanthropy has formed an advisory board of leaders from a number of leading private and community foundations, which will provide valuable counsel on research initiatives and CEP's overall agenda. The Advisory Board members' extensive experience will assist CEP in fulfilling its mission of helping foundation leaders to define, assess, and improve overall foundation performance.

"The counsel of this Advisory Board will be critical to CEP's continued development," said CEP's Executive Director, Phil Buchanan. "Many of its members served as members of our Foundation Performance Metrics Pilot Study Advisory Board and contributed significantly to the success of that effort. In addition, we have added a number of new members who bring significant strengths and new perspectives to our work."

Key agenda items for CEP's Advisory Board will include:

  • Advising on key research initiatives, such as a Foundation Governance Project that will seek to identify the distinctive challenges of foundation governance and the attributes of high-performing foundation boards;
  • Providing feedback and counsel on the development of performance assessment tools, such as CEP's Grantee Perception Report, which is currently being offered on a pilot basis and is based on CEP's efforts to survey grantees of all the largest foundations in the country;
  • Helping to shape CEP's strategy and growth plans as it works to establish itself as a leading resource for foundation leaders seeking to assess and improve foundation performance.
